Automatic Thoughts

The fast, unspoken thoughts that shape how you feel.

📖 5-minute read

Automatic thoughts are the quick, often unnoticed thoughts that pop up in response to a situation. They arrive so fast they can feel like facts.

Examples: 'They're annoyed with me.' 'I'm going to mess this up.' 'I'm too much.' Each one carries a whole emotional charge before you've even had time to look at it.

You can't stop them arriving. But you can learn to catch them, write them down, and ask: 'Is that a fact, or is that a fear?' That single question changes everything.

Educational only. For urgent support see Crisis Resources.
