🧩 Thoughts, Feelings & Behaviours

Learn to tell the three apart — they're not the same thing.

📖 5-minute read

A thought is something your mind says. A feeling is an emotion — often one word like 'anxious', 'sad', 'ashamed'. A behaviour is what you do — checking your phone, cancelling plans, going quiet.

Most of us blur them together. 'I feel like a failure' is actually a thought ('I'm a failure') plus a feeling (probably shame). Untangling them makes the situation workable.

Practise naming each one in isolation. It sounds small, but it's the foundation for every other CBT skill.
