🧭 What is CBT?

A practical, evidence-based way of understanding yourself.

📖 5-minute read

CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It's built on one core idea: our thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and behaviours are all connected. Change one and the others shift too.

CBT doesn't ask you to 'think positively' or ignore what you feel. It teaches you to notice what your mind is doing, gently question thoughts that make things harder, and try small experiments that build evidence for a different way of being.

For trauma survivors, CBT is one of several tools — often used alongside body-based and relational approaches. It's especially helpful for the loud inner critic, the catastrophic 'what ifs', and the avoidance loops that keep pain in place.
