🧠 Mind Reading

'They must think I'm stupid.'

📖 5-minute read

Mind reading is assuming you know what someone else is thinking — usually something bad about you. It's one of the most common thinking traps, and one of the most convincing.

The mind fills in gaps with the worst option available, because a threat you can predict feels safer than one you can't. It's a protection strategy — even when it makes you miserable.

The reality check: you cannot know what someone is thinking without evidence. And even people who love you are usually thinking about themselves, not evaluating you.
