📖 5-minute read
Participate is throwing yourself into what you're doing, with your whole self, without the running commentary. Washing dishes as if that's the only thing happening in the world. Dancing without watching yourself dance.
It's the antidote to going through life at arm's length — half-present, half-watching yourself, half-somewhere-else. Trauma often teaches us to stay slightly outside our own experience. Participating gently invites you back in.
Start with something safe and small. A song you love. A shower. A meal. Let yourself be inside it for the length of that one thing — not performing it, not evaluating it. Just there.
