📖 5-minute read
Balanced thinking is the goal of most CBT work. It's neither the anxious worst-case nor forced sunshine — it's what actually seems true when you hold all the evidence at once.
A balanced thought includes what's hard AND what's true AND what's workable. 'This is really painful, and I've survived hard things before, and I have one small thing I can do today.'
It shouldn't feel like a lie. If it does, it's not balanced yet — it's positive-spin, which the trauma-informed part of you will reject. Rework it until it feels honest.
