📖 5-minute read
A coping statement is a short phrase you say to yourself in a difficult moment. Not affirmations you don't believe — sentences that acknowledge the hard AND remind you of what's true.
Good ones sound like: 'This is really hard, AND I've done hard things before.' 'This feeling is uncomfortable, AND it will pass.' 'I don't have to solve this today.' 'I am safe in this moment.'
Write your own — three to five. Keep them somewhere you'll see them (phone lock screen, front of journal, mirror). Read them when things feel too big.
