📖 5-minute read
Emotions are fast, and they often fit the story you're telling yourself more than the actual facts. Check the Facts is the pause where you compare the two.
Walk through: what actually happened? What am I assuming? What's the interpretation my emotion is running with? Is there another interpretation that also fits?
You're not disproving the emotion. You're asking whether its size and story fit the real situation. Often it does — and you act. Sometimes it doesn't — and you get to soften without dismissing yourself.
