Sometimes an emotion fits the facts and the situation genuinely needs to change. Problem Solving is the DBT skill for those moments — a clear, structured way to move from stuck to acted-on.
The steps: describe the problem specifically. Check the facts. Identify your goal. List every possible solution — even ones you'd reject. Choose one and plan the first step. Do it. Evaluate.
Most of us skip 'list every possible solution' and go straight to the first idea. Listing more options widens what feels possible — and the eventual choice is usually better.
