Governance & Team Roles

Leadership structure, qualifications, responsibilities, boundaries, and accountability framework for Recovery Trauma™ — supporting compliance, safeguarding, governance, audit readiness, and platform accountability.

Part of the Compliance & Governance documentation setNext review: 13 September 2027Laatst bijgewerkt: 13 september 2026

Current organisational structure

Recovery Trauma™ is currently founder-led. Jana Burkhardt personally holds both the Oprichter & Product Compliance Lead role and the Platformbeheerder role, performing both the strategic and governance responsibilities and the day-to-day administration of the platform.

These roles are not currently held by two different people. They remain separately defined below because their responsibilities and boundaries are different, and because higher-level governance, compliance, privacy, safeguarding-framework, policy, and platform-risk decisions are documented under the Founder & Product Compliance Lead role rather than the operational administrator role.

As Recovery Trauma™ grows, responsibilities may be delegated to additional authorised team members and this structure will be reviewed accordingly.

Qualifications

  • BA (Hons) Business Administration — University of Applied Sciences Erfurt, Germany
  • Certificate in Trauma-Informed Counselling — The Open University
  • Ongoing professional development in trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, wellbeing education, compliance, digital platform governance, and responsible platform management

Jana Burkhardt is the Founder of Recovery Trauma™ and leads the platform’s vision, product development, governance, compliance framework, safeguarding framework, risk management, and strategic direction.

Recovery Trauma™ was created from a combination of lived experience, extensive personal engagement with trauma recovery, and the desire to make trauma-informed information and wellbeing resources easier to access.

Jana is a survivor of significant childhood and adult trauma and has spent many years engaged in her own recovery, including extensive therapy and personal development work in Germany and the United Kingdom.

The idea for Recovery Trauma™ developed through this experience. While looking for support, Jana found that useful resources were often fragmented across different services and platforms. Recovery Trauma™ was created to bring educational information, grounding and regulation tools, wellbeing exercises, reflective practices, community features, and therapist discovery together within one accessible platform.

During its development, Jana created the original concept and platform structure, developed its social media presence and community, created and coordinated educational and wellbeing content, supported website and app development, established partnerships, and developed the platform’s governance and compliance framework.

What began as a personal vision has developed into a growing trauma-informed wellbeing platform designed to help people access information, practical tools, supportive resources, community, and independent therapist discovery.

Important note

Jana does not provide therapy, counselling, psychotherapy, psychological assessment, diagnosis, medical treatment, crisis intervention, or healthcare services through Recovery Trauma™. Using Recovery Trauma™ does not establish a therapist–client, counsellor–client, doctor–patient, or other healthcare-professional relationship with Jana or Recovery Trauma™. Her role focuses on platform and product development, business and strategic leadership, governance, compliance framework oversight, GDPR and privacy accountability, safeguarding framework and escalation procedures, platform-level risk management, policy development and review, operational oversight, trauma-informed wellbeing education, community development, and therapist-directory administration and verification requirements. Safeguarding responsibilities relate to platform governance, procedures, escalation, moderation, and appropriate referral or signposting. They do not constitute clinical assessment, diagnosis, therapy, crisis intervention, or professional healthcare decision-making.

Platformbeheerder

Named owner: Jana Burkhardt

Active

Jana Burkhardt currently holds both the Founder & Product Compliance Lead role and the Platform Administrator role within Recovery Trauma™. At the current stage of the organisation, Jana personally manages the day-to-day administration and operational oversight of the platform alongside her Founder responsibilities. The Platform Administrator role is an operational and non-clinical role.

Important note

This dual-role structure is intentional and documented for transparency. As Recovery Trauma™ grows, responsibilities may be delegated to additional authorised team members and the governance structure will be reviewed accordingly. Where a potential safeguarding concern is identified through platform activity, the Platform Administrator follows Recovery Trauma™’s documented safeguarding and escalation procedures. Because Jana also currently holds the Founder & Product Compliance Lead role, matters requiring higher-level governance, compliance, privacy, safeguarding-framework, policy, or platform-risk decisions are handled under that separate role and its documented responsibilities.
